About me¶
I’m a staff engineer with a passion for open-source projects, productivity, and technology. This website is a space where I share my projects, blog posts, and insights on various topics related to software development, DevOps, and technology trends. It may include tutorials, how-tos, and personal experiences in the tech world, or something from the past.
I live in the Netherlands and particular in Holland near the coast on the border of our governmental city The Hague. It gives me the opportunity to enjoy both the vibrant city life and the tranquility of the seaside. Spending time with friends and family, enjoying podcasts, reading books, and exploring the outdoors are some of my favorite pastimes.
My journey¶
I started my journey in technology a long time ago, driven by curiosity and a desire to understand how things work. The original start was in electronic engineer, but quickly shifted to programming PLCs and embedded systems. Over time, this passion evolved into a career in software engineering. A starting point was learning various programming languages and frameworks, which laid the foundation for my understanding of software development and systems architecture. And completing my studies in computer science further solidified my knowledge and skills.
This was the beginning of a journey that has taken me through various roles and industries. And somehow it always revolved around technology and software development and especially introducing new tools and automating processes to improve efficiency and effectiveness, or to scale out solutions. Being able to act as solution architect, developer, and operations engineer has given me a holistic view of the software development lifecycle and the importance of collaboration between different teams.
The learnings¶
Over the years, I’ve learned the importance of collaboration, continuous learning, and adaptability in the ever-evolving tech landscape. Sharing knowledge through blogging and open-source contributions has been a rewarding experience that has helped me grow both personally and professionally. And maybe the most important thing is to stay curious and open to new ideas, as technology is constantly changing, and staying updated is crucial for success in this field, but also to walk the extra mile and help others to grow as not everyone has the same opportunities or possibilities.
A possible future¶
As I look to the future, I’m excited about the possibilities that technology holds. I plan to continue exploring new areas such as cloud computing, DevOps and FinOps practices, and emerging technologies like AI and machine learning. My goal is to keep learning, sharing, and contributing to the tech community while also working on projects that make a positive impact. That is also the reason for this website, to share my journey, projects, and insights with others who share similar interests.
